A good heating pad is best for reptiles and amphibians
This heating pad's ability to generate heat should be the criterion by which it is judged, but it is not. Instead, it is rated "Buyest" and "Soft". Regardless, I found the heating pad to heat up well the second time I used it. My advice is to give it more time to show its ability to heat up than the first time you use it. Having done this I am pleased with its ability to generate heat. It took a while, but it works!
