Review on 📹 D-Link Network Video Recorder (DNR-312L) - Black, HDMI Output, Single Bay SATA HDD Interface, Supports 9 Network Cameras, Standalone Storage Device by Jake Powell

This device works fine with my iPhone and iPad, but I couldn't connect it to any of my Apple computers. Computers see my nine cameras and NVR, but I always get an error message when trying to connect. I can sign in but the process never completes. The "wheel" just keeps turning until it finally gives an error message! It works very well with my TV, but you have to adjust the screen size of your TV or you can't see the edges of the display. I can do it on one TV but the other cannot compensate for the increased screen size. This can be an issue with the TV as it works fine with the other. I have a 4T drive built into the unit and with my nine cameras I use 5% per day which means I can record for about 20 days. For me that is very impressive! The frame rate varies between 7 and 17 fps depending on the camera and lighting conditions. The reason for the 3 stars is due to computer connection issues and because the device is very, very, VERY noisy! For some reason it has a fan and the fan makes more noise than a desktop computer! The fan works even when the device is switched off! what happened to it The price of the device is VERY SAFE for what you are getting. You have to install your own hard drive, adding another $100 to the cost depending on the size of the drive. I give three stars but 2.5 is better. I ended up having to move it to another room and run cables to the TV and mouse so I could hear the TV without fan noise. Why do you need a fan at all? I have a lot of fanless external hard drives and there are few electronics in the box that might need cooling. D-Link needs to rethink this design and drastically lower the price!
