Review on Niagara Cutter N88621 Finishing Diameter by Tim Larsen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I gotta remember you can't go wrong with Niagara Mills

. First a simple phone call to ask questions about each review to make sure they know what they are talking about before taking their opinion seriously. One person says that at the *FULL DIAMETER* depth of cut it will vibrate in the axial direction and 0.005 inch in the radial direction. Another states that it burned out when running a half-inch end mill against hardened steel (actually very hard) at 870 rpm. This is high-speed steel. Guys, no carbide. Personally, I don't take HSS above 300-400 RPM in steel, especially on a hobby machine. And for that, if you really respect the speeds and feeds, as per the machine manual, or recommended by the manufacturer, Niagara is ALWAYS excellent. I've never been disappointed with anything I've bought from them and this cutter is absolutely no exception. FWIW, I made real rough cuts with this precision 304 stainless steel endmill that was already hardened. with a depth of .100" (axial), 1/4 depth in the radial direction (approx. .120"), with a relatively low spindle speed (approx. 200 rpm) and a definitely slow feed, and it worked great. No vibration (on a desktop machine), smooth cuts, chips were exactly as you had them (small 6's for the most part). Good product!
