My first impression of this drive is *not* encouraging (for writing data to discs)! I use Verbatim BD-R discs and use three different programs to process the writing to the disc; CyberLink (included), Ashampoo Burning Studio (free) and BurnAware free. I had 3 dead hard disks out of 6 attempts. My system is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I tried to find a firmware update for the drive but couldn't find it on the company's website. I tried calling tech support but they hung up without reaching the person. I have an email inquiry at the moment. I've also considered using a separate power supply, although the Pioneer docs insist it's not necessary. I *really* hope to fix this before I get the more expensive M-Discs I ordered; throwing away half of it is *not* acceptable!
