Heavy Duty Rear Coil Spring for Tahoe and Suburban/Yukon

This spring is the same as the spring used in the Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon "Z71โ€ packages. This gives you an extra 1 inch of lift relative to field measurements. As far as I know, this is the only Heavy Duty spring you can get without adding more suspension. Airbags are another option if you want to deal with them. The LS, LT and others use a softer spring that is slightly wider in the coil configuration and has fewer coils overall. This 81609 has a tighter spool pack and the steel spool is thicker, I mean the standard spool is 5/8 and this one is 3/4. Details/photos can be found on the Tahoe/Trailblazer website discussion forum if you wish to search the web for more details. Suburban installation is fairly simple, remove the lower shock bolt and the sway bar bolt that holds the axle. Raise the vehicle frame high enough to remove the old spring and install the new spring. Reassemble in reverse order... When lifting the car, be careful of the rubber brake hoses so you don't pull on them too hard to avoid breaking them. They will be tight so be careful how high you lift the car during this process. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, go somewhere and have it done for you. I am not responsible for the instructions I give. The ride comfort in my car hasn't changed, maybe not like a sponge ride, but it's really hard to feel a difference. Definitely didn't make for a rough ride afterwards. My use was primarily for towing, so I wanted the vehicle's ride height to support the weight of the trailer tongue better than the standard soft casters.
