I award 5 stars here. I don't know if it really helps or not, I don't mind the taste of my tap water so I don't think they really do anything for coffee anyway. However I would like to think that the coffee maker comes with them for a reason and I would like to know that if there is any contamination they take care of it. They came with no instructions, although they seem pretty self-explanatory. But I watched a YouTube video where a man put a charcoal filter in a bowl of cold water for 30 minutes before putting it in the coffee maker. I don't know what it's for, but I did that too. Maybe first "activate" or weaken. I am happy with them and they seem to last 2 years as they need to be replaced every 60 days or so. Very important!
