I needed a lockable chuck and this one locked but wouldn't turn off. As long as there is pressure in the cartridge, it will flow until the pressure is gone. It wasn't a small leak, and it was more like there hadn't even been a blackout. I went cheap and for a few bucks it's not worth returning and I may someday be able to use it on a line that has a trigger to shut off the air before it hits the cartridge. It was almost impossible to get some air into my car's tires, so since it won't shut off, the pass/fail test is a failure and I'll spend a little more and get a double head next time. The one I received is definitely not a closed cartridge. I even tried it on my garage compressor, which has a trigger and because it won't close, the car tire lets out more air than I can get in.
