. My NAS stops letting computers write to it after every few hundred gigabytes of disk writes. Some of the drives were noisy, but I've also been using 100% SSDs for many years, so I took out the drives and scanned them. At first SMART and dmesg (Linux command with kernel output) showed nothing. I scanned all the drives from other computers and reinserted them. FYI, you still need to do this before adding drives to a NAS. The longest and most thorough tests revealed no problems. At this point I have installed the TerraMaster 8GB RAM module. I didn't use all the RAM but thought this would solve the problem due to my large RAID 5 array. I made sure everything was copied to USB or my desktop and prepared the device for return. READ THE STORIES ON THE TERRAMASTER FORUMS and read other reviews on Revain and elsewhere for other models. This will scare you to death $%&*. To be honest I thought it was related to CoolerMaster due to the similarity in both name and logo. If you end up buying one of these, I wouldn't write any sensitive data on it (I didn't). I just don't trust this company. Something seems fishy and wrong with the alpha quality feel of the operating system. We're hoping that Revain can do some quality control with the suppliers, as anyone can sell anything here and there's no guarantee it isn't third-rate junk. Nothing beats sending this device back and I spent a little more on the 8-bay QNAP. If you care about your data or the time to start over, look elsewhere. TL; DR - Terramaster DAS products have great reviews but I wouldn't buy anything from them with an IP address.
