Review on Easy-to-Use Norpro Stainless Steel Strawberry Huller and Tomato Stem Corer Tool by Kayla Bartlett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Less suitable for strawberries than the original design, 3.5 stars

My wife has had one of these for years and uses it regularly to grow strawberries. This was bought as a present for my daughter in law. While the overall design and appearance haven't changed, the details have. The current plastic molding is a little less sharp and the red button is a little duller - so none of the hallmarks of the effect can be ignored. The thickness (strength) of the metal appears to be sufficient to withstand the removal of stems from strawberries, although use on tomatoes, particularly tough, unripe or green ones, is not recommended. Unfortunately, they noticeably increased the size of the shovel, which made it more suitable. for tomatoes with a larger stem area and less suitable for strawberries, which have a smaller stem area. Thus, the scoop is optimized for tomatoes, but the handle size and metal strength are negligible for tomatoes. It's sub-optimal for either, although the original design was very good for strawberries. It can still be used for strawberries and I would recommend it for that. As the name suggests, 3.5 stars, while the original design from years ago was probably 4.5 to 5 stars.
