Good concept but devices turn off

I wanted to like this as the switches make it easy to turn off the external webcam and microphone. Also, the aluminum is nice and solid (although the keys themselves are a little flimsy). However, both the webcam and microphone I connected to this hub disconnected during the conference call. I have another hub with no power buttons, and my external devices, including the webcam and microphone, stay on at all times. I'll reset that and go back to my old setup (turn off devices when not in use).
