We are completing a partial renovation of our kitchen and I wanted to add some quality touches. Drawer slides and soft-closing doors were high on the list. The first two drawer slides I bought were made by Liberty. I installed them and wasn't happy with how "heavy" they were. I believe it is due to the size/type of bearings. The drawer didn't work as smoothly as I had hoped. We decided to try a different brand (in this case Knape & Vogt) to see if the brand made a difference in how easily the drawers opened and closed and I have to say we are very pleased. KV drawers require far less effort to operate the drawers than Liberty slides. The locking mechanism is very smooth. We have ordered more KV slides to complete the drawers in our kitchen. An installation note - our cabinets weren't perfectly square so getting the rails perfectly lined up was very difficult. My first drawer took over 2 hours while I measured, lined, drilled etc and the drawer still didn't go in smoothly. I eventually figured out that I could mount the pieces on top of the drawer (both sides, about 1/4" from the bottom) and match the front screw with the other piece that mounted on the inside of the cabinet. This can turn itself rotate the part attached to the cabinet when you insert the drawer. Then I put the box in the hole and propped it up from the bottom with a small piece of wood. Then I leveled it from the bottom with a small spirit level, making sure that end is flush closed, and the screws in the rear brackets were screwed in like this.By the way, we have front cabinets. The assembly time with this method is 10 minutes per box, and there were no jams and other things.
