This is actually the second one of these we have purchased with the first being for our giant rotti-lab mix. This one we bought for our 19 lb rescue terrier puppy who is still very much in the teething stage. Although it doesn't work as well for this new rescue as our other dog, I think part of that is just the dog is still very hyper, etc. As for teething, it works as well as can be expected but it's still not as tasty as say a pair of shoes or the doggy bed. Both dogs actually prefer chewing on their rings at room temperature so I honestly can't comment on freezing this item but I can recommend washing every few days (every day if using with any type of treats) because the grooves can get pretty slobbery if you have a drooler like our rotti. VERY durable, solid, etc. Our rotti uses her ring more as a "soothing toy" now, as she remembers it as her first toy when she was first rescued. This new pup will enjoy her ring, but only if you entice her with it.
