I used this 1" hole saw to cut through a 3/4" ferrous pipe nipple to form a saddle shape for a good weld to another piece of pipe 3 /4 in. A 3/4" pipe is actually about 1-1/16" in diameter, but I figured the cut would be at least 1-1/16" in diameter on a typical hole saw swing. Not with this hole saw, it's very sharp (well, it's new), doesn't stick, twitch or jump from side to side. Nice smooth straight cut, although I had to increase it a bit with a round twisting stone. You could have used 1-1/16" from the start.
