UPDATE (8/26/2019): It has been a month since I returned this replacement unit to the manufacturer and still have not received a proper credit to my account to send it back. After I received the second version of this item, it technically "worked" - but the head unit was draining my battery when my car was off, and I wasn't given any instructions or funds to easily fix it. After paying for a battery replacement and being confused again by two failed attempts to get this main unit working reliably for my needs, I decided to send it back to the manufacturer before the return window ended on August 9th. The item has been received. already from Revain (since around the end of July), but has been waiting for a return to my account for almost a month. What's happening? I am not happy with the way this whole experience went and I want my money back from the seller asap. It's either that or my product will come back with an updated schematic and the necessary jumpers and wires needed to properly connect this device so my battery doesn't drain when my car is off. ------ PREVIOUS REVIEW (c/Installation Guide) After replacing my first unit because the Bluetooth module wasn't working, this OEM head unit was INCREDIBLY easy to install - just ten steps below: 1. Leave the car out; Don't worry about disconnecting the battery.2. Carefully remove the plastic covering around the main unit with a plastic pry bar3. Using a T-20 screw or drill bit attached to a drill, unscrew and save the four T-20 screws securing the assembly.4. Carefully pull the device out of the double DIN opening on the dashboard.5. Carefully unplug all antenna cables and power cords from the electrical outlets. Put the old head unit aside for now.6. Reconnect the power and the radio using the antenna adapter that came with the new head unit.7. At this time, turn on the main unit to make sure the power/data is OK. Feel free to test it before you seal it again.8. Plug the head unit back into the double DIN socket on the dashboard.9. Screw the T-20 back in to lock it.10. Slide the molding back into the top and press everywhere to get it flat back to how it was originally. After that, the system was able to easily find my Bluetooth connection through my iPhone and pairing was instantaneous. In BT mode, I can wirelessly play music etc from my phone, but Carplay doesn't work in the same way. This requires the phone to be connected to the head unit via a USB-to-Lightning connection, and once the connection is established all audio is routed through it only. This still means another device can be connected wirelessly via Bluetooth, so the head unit can technically process sound from multiple sources at once, but will only play from one or the other depending on the switch. Carplay runs incredibly smooth and the head unit looks like it has always belonged to my car! I love how responsive the touchscreen is! The sound was already better after replacing the head unit (the sound in my car sounds better compared to the RCD-510 originally in there) and apart from the occasional click when my cable came loose while using Carplay in my car. the replacement device worked without any problems! For $250 when I got this, it was easily the best internal upgrade I've made to my MK6 in years, and it's easy enough for anyone. If you haven't already upgraded to the RCD330 and your VW can handle it - GET IT! You will be amazed by the results!
