Had one for many years, worked great but steel center gear eventually broke. This one turned out to be similar, so I ordered it without reading the reviews first. My original, I just needed to sharpen my jaws. In this case, you need to bend and sharpen the jaws so that the leading edge touches the filter first, and then the trailing edge grabs and holds the filter. I used a vise, narrow nose pliers, and an air sander with a 3" wheel. The rubber caps of others like this one slip off, tear, and become useless. a little, but a few drops of oil will help. I should be able to do something like this Easy to use right out of the box which is why it only gets 3 stars If you have some skill and time it can be modified to make it work great.
