I think due to the tighter bond there could be a coating on the inside, that works much better , than the cheap stuff you get here and there. Yes, it's more expensive, but it really works. I removed the through holes. I used to use a cheap wick to remove most of the solder by squeezing the head and then pulling out the pins one at a time. THEN we suck the remaining solder out of the through holes. They had to be absolutely clean in order for me to add new headings. This NTE material sucked out all of the solder in the first step. I just pressed it against the pin and stuck a big ol' chisel in and it sucked out so much solder that the pin fell out on its own. For subsequent boards I didn't have to spend time crushing the cap. I simply sucked all the solder out of each pin and unplugged it. I'm pretty sure I could reuse the title since it came out so clean. Saved me a lot of time and headaches. If you're disappointed with desoldering and don't have this wick, buy it.
