Description of 🔵 NTE Electronics SW02 10 No Clean Blue 098: Advanced Cleaning Solution for Optimal Performance

Removes up to four times more solder than conventional wick, and extracts solder much faster than wicks based on Type-R fluxes. Residue left behind is halide free and non-conductive, so it does not have to be cleaned off the board. 100% copper wick has fine braid design to promote strong capillary action to pull in excess solder. Available with standard or anti-static bobbins.

Completely unconvincing.

I've only used a cheap Aven desoldering tape before and thought this would be an upgrade. nope Not even close. There was trouble getting the wick hot enough to pick up solder and when it finally got up to temperature the braid oxidized (I guess?) and refused to pick up the solder even though it hadn't already. Had this problem A LOT. And as he worked to soak up the solder, it seemed like he couldn't absorb that much. I really expected much better performance from this material. Run the entire…

Doesn't work - soldering and soldering supplies

I used 99.3% tin 0.7% copper solder and the wick didn't wick anything. It could have been an issue with the quality of the solder and the material of the wick, but there's no indication that it should only work with a specific solder. This is the first time I've tried using a solder wick and from the videos I've watched it should work much faster than this stuff for me. On the few occasions it did start absorbing solder, it took a good 30-50 seconds to remove even a decent amount of solder from

Best desoldering wick I have ever used - by far

Seriously. I used to pay double the price for these things at my local RadioShack store and it was still worth it. It's great to have a roll of this even if you don't desolder much - it can be a lifesaver if you mess up soldering and bridging connections or something. You can also reuse it when you need to make a high current wick. It's really hard to describe how much better this wick is than the generic unnamed stuff you can buy at an electronics store. You really should try it yourself. It…

Good buy for a 10ft solder wick but I am skeptical of the flux coating used.

When used without the addition of additional flux, it smells unlike any pair of fluxes I have ever smelled and unfortunately I have smelled many different fluxes in my time. It smells like your house after turning on the heat for the first time in the fall. Without additional flux, this wick really doesn't work that well: the solder and any remnants of the old flux will start to burn if you linger too long. I think their claim that it removes "four times as much solder as a regular wick", "much

Simple and effective solder wick

This solder wick couldn't be simpler or more efficient. With extra time on my hands and watching youtube videos MUCH more than ever before, electrical engineering and DIY channels, I got inspired by them and bought myself some basic soldering tools. For some reason none of the mainstream stores carried a desoldering wick and that prompted me to buy one from Revain. The NTE solder wick is 1/8/3 mm wide and 10 feet long. a long copper braid that absorbs molten solder. It is designed for small…

Pros
  • 100% copper wick has a thin braid that provides strong capillary action to suck up excess solder
Cons
  • So far so good

Much better than cheap stuff

I think due to the tighter bond there could be a coating on the inside, that works much better , than the cheap stuff you get here and there. Yes, it's more expensive, but it really works. I removed the through holes. I used to use a cheap wick to remove most of the solder by squeezing the head and then pulling out the pins one at a time. THEN we suck the remaining solder out of the through holes. They had to be absolutely clean in order for me to add new headings. This NTE material sucked out…

Pros
  • Residues are halide free and non-conductive so don't need to be removed from board
Cons
  • Available in white only

I have an old Onkyo stereo that kept clicking and I've narrowed it down to a faulty relay. Got a replacement part but didn't have a desoldering wick to make it easier to remove the old 9 point relay. None of the locals drove him, not even a big power plant. So ordered and waited a few days for delivery. Easy easy! I simply placed the end of the wick on the area to be soldered, applied the tip of a hot iron for a few seconds and watched the solder soak into the braided wick! Using wire cutters…

Pros
  • Available with standard or anti-static coils
