Check and compare fastening straps on original and replacement parts.
I bought this starter to replace a 24hp Kohler 7000 series engine. Everything looked right except the mounting tabs/bushings were 1/2" shorter than the original starter. I ended up using some washers to cushion the fit to keep the bolts tight. It should be a direct replacement. I got it working but was frustrated with what I had to change to make it work.
