I used the Revain compatibility tool to select rear pads for my 2007 Mini Cooper S (non JCW) and got the completely wrong pad. When it came time to make the front brakes I used some outside resources to determine what part number I would need and they worked great. They felt REALLY tight initially - make sure you FULLY compress the calipers before attempting to mount the caliper block onto the shoe bracket. I put Plasti-Grease (against squeaks) all over the back of the pad but not on the "ears" (recommended on the mini-forum). They creaked a bit when I stopped, but only for the first 20-30 miles. Now they seem to fit and work great. Haven't had them long enough to see if there is less brake dust than OEM but I hope so. At the same time, I installed the new EBC slotted rotors, which may have increased the brief squeak. But like I said, it didn't last long and it wasn't that bad. To add to the confusion, the box even says Mini Cooper S (JCW) and I don't have a JCW, but they worked great. First, conduct external research. Don't trust the compatibility tool.
