Purchased for Weller WLC100 Soldering Station. The sponge works perfectly. The only issue I had was that it came in a box with four other larger items and I almost threw away the small sponge plastic bag along with the packaging airbags because it was so small I didn't notice it. No fear. How flat is the sponge upon arrival. [Photo #1] As soon as you add water, it immediately expands (and stays that way). [Photo #2] Mine was larger than advertised at about 4.5 x 2.5 inches [Photos #3 and #4] so I cropped about 3/8" off the longer size and it fits perfectly to my soldering iron stations.[photo #5] I only left the width 2.5, it fits in the sponge compartment and holds it in place.
