For packages and cardboard boxes? These blades work great; but I find them less than desirable for that purpose compared to a normal utility blade or a ceramic extendable blade. It just seems like too much blade for opening a stupid box. I did use on some scrap carpet because these blades should work well on thicker materials, and I was not so impressed. I know it's hard to get clean cuts on carpet to begin with, but other than having some control over accidentally cutting what is below the carpet as you lift up, you can find alternative blades. They look fierce, but that's about it.
