Review on πŸ”’ Bosch NKLT18 No Longer Produced by Sam Lund

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very impressive large diameter drill bit

Stump holes for applying nitrogen stump remover. When I received the Revain product I was overwhelmed by the weight and size of the drill. It's one thing to see the dimensions and image on a computer monitor, but it's quite another to hold a drill in your hands. The 18W DeWalt 1/2" cordless rock drill I owned was able to drive the drill at the lowest speed setting, but not very well. Even so, the performance of the bit was impressive. The tip of the screw stuck to the surface of the tree and guided the blades of the auger.Every few inches or less, the shavings had to be unscrewed to clear the shavings, otherwise the shavings would accumulate.Drilling in hardwood stumps such as elm has caused the drill bit to jam on several occasions. A small amount of oil was applied and allowed to soak into the wood where the bit was stuck.Milwaukee's companion collapsed after hitting a small stump. Finally, given the low speed and high torque requirements for this type of bit, we settled on a DeWalt DV130V 9-am 1/2" Low Speed Drill Bit. The last drill had a variable speed of 0-550 rpm. , which, with its top speed of 600 rpm, was a perfect match for the Daredevil drill. The side grip on the drill was also a boon as the torque required to turn that auger is transferred to the user holding the drill. I have bruises from trying to stabilize the other exercises with my knees. Our current bit has survived 3-4 drilling sessions and over a hundred holes in seven stumps, all mature Elm or Catalpa. The drill edges still cut very well, although there are nicks in a few places because the other bit gets too close to free the chisel when it's stuck. I'm now ordering the second one as a spare in case we have to send the first one in for resharpening. We live on eleven acres of partially wooded land and now that we've finally figured out how to drill holes in them, there are a couple of stumps to contend with. one piece. This is a real miracle tool.

Pros
  • Dual cutting edges: Make nailing easier and balanced drilling
Cons
  • Expensive
