Good toy but not a very good puzzle

I've searched a lot for an interesting 3D puzzle that is still a real puzzle, not a kit. I thought that was all (decent number of parts, complicated looking pattern) but I was wrong. Assembling this puzzle is not difficult except sorting the pieces by number. The puzzle can only be assembled in a specific order and all pieces are numbered according to that order. So all you have to do is look at the numbers, sort the pieces, and then put them back together according to the instructions. I think you could try increasing the difficulty by simply solving it flat (don't bend the hinge parts yet), finishing with some small and very small 2D puzzles, and then putting it all back together (which would require you break your 2D puzzle row per row). But the end result looks great (which is what made me buy it). The parts are very solid, everything fits. I have a problem with the layout of the attachments. When you bend them you are basically stretching the face plastic and creating a white crease around the edge. While not very noticeable, I would prefer a design that doesn't permanently damage the parts. Conclusion: If you want a cool looking 3D puzzle, this is a good choice. But if you want to increase the level of difficulty compared to the usual 2D puzzles, you can use the puzzle ball instead.
