This is the second Variac I have ordered but both have quality control issues: the gauge shows cracks, the dial markers and knob are misaligned and there are dents or marks on the cases. . The second also gave off a distinct smell of port cargo for a day or two. Other than that, it actually works for my purpose (controlling a Lichtenberg wood burning transformer).
