The product needs to be applied in a thick layer and left for some time. This will help the paint break down without a lot of dripping. The smell was a little strong but to be expected for the type of product. My ceilings were painted and unpainted differently, with different textures and materials. In all cases, the water jet helped remove the texture, but with a heavily colored texture, scraping it off was extremely important. The search for the right scraping tool was also crucial.
