This monitor is clearly meant to add an extra screen to your laptop more than anything else. Although it would of course work fine on a computer. The bottom line is that you must have a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort to connect your display to it, otherwise you'll have to default to HDMI and a power outlet (or a USB 3.0+ port for power delivery).
