My fridge started leaking which meant I had to shut off the water valve which meant I wouldn't be making any more ice until I could fix it or buy a new fridge (we are for one). So in the meantime I decided on this ice cube tray. I really like the big cubes. You only need one in a drink and it will melt away forever. When I stop drinking, I almost always have a block of ice left over. The lid does not snap into place. It's just a thin silicone lid that covers it in case you want to put something on it, and probably also helps to protect the ice from dirt and absorb the smells of other items. I like.
