08/24/2017 This set works very well. I've used this on very dull cheap knives and the results are excellent. I've also used this on my chisels and planer knives with great results. I don't even need a honing guide as I only need less than 50 passes (on all 3 grits) so I don't have to hold the angle for long. I've only used it for less than a week, so I can't comment on long-term use (which I believe the display lasted a long time). A beautiful wooden box is mentioned in the product description. Nice, but I wouldn't call it nice, especially since the top and bottom halves aren't even the same size. The grindstone cavity is rough, as if the milling was done in one pass. In addition, the body was glued together from two pieces of wood (2 pieces for the upper half and 2 pieces for the lower half). Finally, the stones sit on a chamfer inside the cavity, which annoyed me more than the rough milling work. I'm not deducting a star though as I don't really care about the case but since it was advertised as beautiful I thought I'd leave a comment on it. I'll probably buy a 2X Course Grit later.
