Metal Chess Set - Chess Board Game for Adults and Kids - Wooden Folding Travel Chess Board with Metal PiecesWow. Everything about this set screams quality. The metal pieces are aesthetic and well made, the quality of the board is better than expected, and of course, the fancy metal hinges are a nice touch.HOWEVER, we have a 2.7" King with a 1.05” base on 1.25” Squares. So the King’s base is 84% of the width of a square. This 84% makes for a crowded board. The maximum recommended ratio is 75%. Personally, I'm planning to use these metal pieces on a larger board with a square size of 1.5". (1.4" would get you to the recommended 75% ratio.).And I do have one other complaint. When the board is open, the two hinges on one side have small protrusions sticking out 2 mm that could potentially scratch a wooden table. These protrusions DO NOT RETRACT into the hinges as another reviewer suggested. Their purpose seems to be to ensure the hinges fit together correctly when closed. I'm not saying they would definitely scratch your table, but it's something to watch out for.As other reviewers have mentioned, the gold-ish and silver-ish game pieces aren't that much different in sheen and become hard to distinguish in dim lighting. No problem with regular lighting, of course.Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.
