Doesn't slide well on yarn and squeaks

These crochet hooks aren't bad, but after my second scarf with the same crochet hook I noticed the finish started to fray and the yarn didn't slide as smoothly as when I started mine first use. This and now "creaks" when the yarn runs against the needle, which annoys me a bit.
