Review on Wi-Fi router TP-LINK Archer AX20, black by Ada Holf ᠌

Revainrating 2 out of 5

A bad product, not worth the money.

When using lan, it calmly gave out the declared 600 megabits from the operator. I connected to the operator through another router, so there was no authorization (a patch cord was inserted into the wan port of the router from the lan port of the operator's router). Speed testing: iphone 11: 1 meter, line of sight, protocol AC: 319/523 megabits 1 load-bearing wall, AC protocol: 291/308 megabits 1 carrier and 1 thin wall, AC protocol: 233/222 megabits 1 meter, line of sight, protocol AX: 351/579 megabits 1 load-bearing wall, AX protocol: 289/395 megabits 1 carrier and 1 thin wall, AX protocol: 251/217 megabits Macbook pro 15 2022: 1 meter, line of sight, protocol AC: 327/512 megabits 1 load-bearing wall, AC protocol: 259/267 megabits 1 carrier and 1 thin wall, AC protocol: 227/134 megabits For comparison, the speed on Huawei WS880 iphone 11: 1 meter, line of sight, protocol AC: 365/432 megabits 1 load-bearing wall, AC protocol: 268/347 megabits 1 carrier and 1 thin wall, AC protocol: 172/229 megabits Macbook pro 15 2022: 1 meter, line of sight, protocol AC: 376/494 megabits 1 load-bearing wall, AC protocol: 285/189 megabits 1 carrier and 1 thin wall, AC protocol: 189/205 megabits I was dissatisfied with the router, since the relatively new standard did not give any increase on this router, compared to the router purchased in 2022. I will return. I don’t see the point in purchasing this router, since there are cheaper analogues (ac) with a higher speed and greater penetration. I didn’t do speed tests in iperf, it wasn’t before, but according to the first tests on the iphone, it showed 250 megabits on AC and 300 megabits on AX (the test was before a PC connected via lan). I did not do tests at a frequency of 2.4, since it is useless due to the pollution of the air.

Pros
  • 1. Not heated 2. Ability to mount on the wall 3. Switchable LED illumination 4. Convenient admin panel 5. Ability to raise openVPN in two clicks (create a certificate and export settings) 6. Scheduled reboot 7. Range 5GHz
Cons
  • 1. Raw firmware. After the purchase, I immediately ated to the latest available version (1.1.1 Build 20222227 rel.22637). After the initial setup, when changing Wi-Fi settings, for example, the channel width, an unsecured guest network was turned on. Often the settings are not saved and write an error. The settings take a long time to apply. 2. The AX mode (for which it was bought) can only work with b / g / n, or alone. That is, if you have devices with wifi 6 and wifi 5, they will not work together at high speed. On a personal example - iphone 11 has 300 megabits of download, and MBP 15 2022 50 megabits (at the N protocol limit). 3. Speed according to the AX protocol. The ceiling turned out to be 350 megabits for downloading and 570 megabits for uploading (where the declared 1200 megabits is unclear. Although, 600 megabits would suit me already).
