Review on ๐Ÿ“ถ TP Link EAP225 DAccรจs 1350Mbps Gigabit: High-Speed and Reliable Wireless Connectivity by Jodi Tisdale

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Completely solved our free standing garage wifi problem

I would actually only give 4 stars because the instructions are too complicated but overall it's a solid 5 stars. We have a separate garage that's close enough to get our home WiFi signal, but far enough away that even if you're connected to that signal, nothing happens, so you have to manually unplug your device and use the cellular signal . Real PITA. So I ran CAT5e from our router through a covered walkway soffit to the garage, mounted TP-LINK in the ceiling, hooked up a PoE injector for power and GREEN LIGHT! It was included! Cool, now you need to connect it. I'm a Mac guy and when I read about Mac controller software my brain started to hurt. Obviously the controller software (downloadable) is really intended for business use. Knew there had to be a better way. Well there is. And it's simple: connect to the Wi-Fi network on which it broadcasts. In a browser, type tplinkeap.net. This will bring up the login window. The default username and password are admin. From there, it's easy to set up the network name, security type, Wi-Fi PW, etc. It is great. Not too different from the Netgear Genie interface once you've played around with it. Once I got into the admin panel, the installation took about 10 minutes. I was nervous just because it's a long run of CAT5e, through some sketch holes/attics, and wondered if it would even work. Well it does - like a champ! Speeds are equal to or even faster than the Nighthawk router it is connected to. Completely solved our problem with Wi-Fi in a detached garage.
