Cheaply made and made to last

I used these tools to remove old and moldy grout from a shower stall. Sealant and grout are two different products, and grout is much more difficult to remove and replace by a qualified technician. After trying a grout remover, I reverted to a razor blade hard enough to guide the inside of the old grout lines and easily pull the grout out. It is important to remove any old grout/sealant to allow the new material to bond properly when installed. After trying to smooth out the new grout with the tool that came with it, I reverted to the old method of wetting my fingertip and using it. to create a good seal. Mortar is coarser and it is important to keep it wet during installation. If you've applied too much, you can always use a ruler and razor blade to cut a straight line to give the grout line the width you want. One thing I learned the hard way is try to use masking tape on the grout lines as usual. do with sealant. Sealant won't stick to masking tape, but grout will. Thank goodness I tried this method before repointing the areas that needed them. Although this product is cheap I used the old ways to get the job done. This "new trick" didn't work with the "old dog".
