Review on πŸ”§ BORA Portamate PM-5090 Adjustable Pedestal Feed Roller Support: Enhance Precision and Efficiency with 11-1/4" Ball Bearing Steel Roller by Kyle Wesener

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice features, versatility

Update 10/14/2020 After writing the review and update below I was contacted by the company. They asked for my address and sent me another block. Collected and tested today. I don't have a "hard" roller that made me think there weren't any ball bearings. It looks more like the first block got stuck because of the tight plastic bushing at the end of the reel. Another issue I had with the first block was a failed weld on the nut that the height adjustment knob threads into, see photo. under. This one looks safer. I'm increasing my rating from 2 to 4 stars based on this and the seller's response. in brackets. The rod does not rotate in the reel. The result is a reel that does not spin freely. A little grease on the mounts helps, but the lightweight material will likely just slide over the reel. This device costs twice as much as others advertise. Not worth the money without ball bearings. Updated 8/17/2020After some use sawing on a bandsaw, the nut holding the tension arm is screwed onto the side of the base. See image. Upon closer inspection, it turned out that it was only welded on one side. I bought it based on the reviews, thinking that the high price is a sign of the high quality. I was wrong. It's light, thin, and poorly constructed. The one I bought from Harbor Freight for a quarter the price is stronger and better made. It does have a few nice features though - an adjustable foot to compensate for uneven floors and a tapered height adjustment rod that makes adjustment easier.
