Review on Fiskars 91095935J 🌿 Classic Bypass Pruner, Black by Carlos Barete

Not like before

I was a loyal Fiskars customer for years until 2 pairs of these pruning shears changed my mind. Whilst I appreciate Fiskars offering a 'lifetime guarantee' it is very annoying to photograph them, send info to Fiskars etc. I've had a few of these since about 2008 and have worked like a champ and even sharpened them have been once or twice. . However, pruning the tough stalks of plants like bamboo wears out any secateurs over time. So I bought this pair believing they would work just as well as the previous pair. I don't know where the old pair was made, but the new ones were both from China. I have a pair of Fiskars left handed scissors that I have been sewing with for at least twenty years and they are from Europe and they are excellent. Times change, but so does the quality of these secateurs. Both the new pair and the spare pair have the same problem: when the jaws open and close, the spring or mechanism in the secateurs that causes the jaws to open again after the cut isn't strong enough. As a result, they cut a little "sideways" and if you use them in a humid environment, it will only get worse with prolonged use. I struggled with the first new pair for a couple of months and then contacted Fiskars for a replacement. I cannot fault their service as they responded quickly and sent me a replacement. Unfortunately, the spare pair has the exact same problem. They worked well for about an hour of hard trimming and then started creaking and had to manually open the jaws after each trimming. Much worse. I won't be replacing them again and will be buying stronger pruning shears from another company.
