We have CAT 5 cables running under the floorboards with exact lengths for each room. We recently had to redecorate the room with our main modem connection and with two family members working from home, keeping our internet connection up was a must. I bought these RJ45 adapters (and some 10ft CAT-5 cables) so I could connect to a landline, but our modem and router were in the next room and they did a great job! It was just plug and play: I connected one of these connectors to a hard line, then connected our modem to the other side of the connector with another CAT-5 cable, thus quickly moving the modem.
