I was a bit skeptical about compatibility at first having worked with USB network cards before saying that they are compatible, but you need to find an obscure driver package online to make it work, but this one worked as expected with both OSX and Windows. I haven't done extensive performance testing as I only use it for network maintenance tasks. It offers a stable physical gigabit connection to the local network and that's all I need from it. Other plus points are the good build quality and a colour/finish very close to the 2017 MBP which is another reason why I chose this particular adapter. No complaints here. Good product.
