Review on πŸ”ͺ 2 Inch Carbide Cleaning Cutting Tool by Uxcell by James Womble

Revainrating 5 out of 5

uxcell vs. whiteside 6220 - updated 28 April 2019 - upgraded to 5 stars.

In the first photo uxcell on a cedar, in the second photo the white side is on a cedar. The same batch of wood. Uxcell: I bought 2 Uxcell bits here on Amazon, Uxcell 1/2" shank, 1-1/8" cutting edge diameter double carbide tip and 2" and they work, but I am currently working with softwood and they are basic not suitable for building a cabinet they are ripped so it really depends what you are doing it for I would recommend uxcell bits for making any type of wood where you have hidden nails in them etc well them will handle hardwood but with a slow feed rate I'm sure they'll be fine. The dust from my limited experience was gritty, not a fine sludge which can be a plus.Whiteside: This nozzle leaves such a nice finish on cedar ,no cracks just a nice finish. This nozzle produces much finer sludge than the uxcell nozzle.Good enough I had to vacuum under the milling plates after each pass when moving the milling cutter in the carriage or it would straighten out grow enough to reset the axis, never had this problem with the uxcell bit. on, is only an indicator for the higher quality cut of your receipt. I will attach a photo, the first 2 white side cutters, the last uxcell cutter, this is all made on cedar. Bottom line, if you're looking for quality cut ie when making cabinets etc, take something from the white side. I just want to roughly align the boards, uxcell will work just fine. Updated - April 28, 2019: I had the opportunity to use Uxcell bit on spruce wood. I have to say that it worked impressively next to the white nozzle. To be honest I prefer the uxcell bit for this kind of work. I just leveled some Homedepo 2x8x10 boards with it. The white side bit is basically new and after editing one side the 2x8 started burning the board on the other side. Yes it needed cleaning, I used multiple stones with about 5 short passes per cutting edge on each stone, 400, 1000, 3000, 8000. While I was at it I went ahead and cleaned the uxcell bit to the same Way. PLEASE NOTE there are very few shortcuts, no real sharpening just a little cleaning. The updated photos are a comparison of the first pass on the first side with the bit on the white side and then half with the uxcel bit. The white part is a bit smoother, but to be honest there isn't much of a difference. For the price of some Uxcell compared to the white side I would go for Uxcell for most common plate orientations, you can get 4 for the price of a white side. *Note that the Uxcell chisel flattened approximately 15 8 foot by 5.75 inch cedar planks. Most have about 1/8 inch of the calyx removed. It can still be processed very well and remains very sharp. Basically say "one thousand" right now with a Sears 14 amp digital router (which I do NOT condone as there are issues depending on the production run you get it from). Bottom line, for most work you would use them for, they are amazing. The white side still has a smoother finish, but unless you're making some kitchen cabinets or another surface that really needs a flawless finish, don't use Uxcell, you can't beat the value.
