They were bought to make wooden tiles with letters for our baby. The label hole at the top is useful for tying the letters together on the jump ring. The small piece of yarn that comes with the kit is useless - enough to make a gift tag if you wish. I dropped the string. The wood is free of shavings and I feel comfortable giving them to our little one to play with.
