Review on πŸ”§ Crescent 11" Automotive Wrench - C711H: Versatile Tool for Efficient Auto Repairs by Robert Berio

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Made in China, rough surface, not the same quality.

I have owned a variety of Crescent brand tools over the years and have always been willing to pay the extra money for a USA made tool with a lifetime warranty. US Brand Crescent tools have a consistent finish with a tight mechanism, giving you a quality tool that will not gall or damage the fasteners you use it on. When this key arrived I was dismayed to see MADE IN CHINA in big letters. The first thing that struck me was the rough casting of the tool, I didn't even take it out of the box but other reviews said the adjustment was sloppy and loose. This wrench was originally developed by Henry Ford for auto work, sloppy and loose tools are not intended for auto work, they twist nuts/bolts. In summary, when you buy a universal key from China, you don't have to pay US branded prices. You can buy the same wrench with another brand for 1/3 the price, also made in China. Crescent seems to have overlooked the fact that some of their instruments are now made in China in order to market these new instruments based on their past reputation. Crescent does not state in the description on this website that this key was made in the USA, but neither do they state the country of origin and most people familiar with the brand will immediately think based on the brand history that they are a product made in USA buy price. .

Pros
  • Smooth jaws will not damage delicate fasteners such as chrome and brass fittings.
Cons
  • High price.
