Review on DORMAN 76989 Window Lock for Sliding Windows by Josh Sheehan

INSTALLING THIS THING IS AWESOME; DO NOT BUY

Tiny screws will NOT fit existing holes. If you try to screw them in, CUT THE EXISTING HOLES AND SEAL. These screws must be made of monkey metal so that they can be pressed into the soft aluminum frame of the sash. But you won't be able to drill out broken bolts. Luckily I was able to drill two small holes directly into the existing holes. Carefully choose the size of the hole, then partially thread the remaining screws in and out to pre-cut the holes before installing the plastic lock. IF I DIDN'T KEEP THE ORIGINAL SCREWS I couldn't have attached the other side of the plastic lock to the other sash. My god, this is a real test. Don't expect anything from this kit.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Disappear
