Review on MUYI 10 Kit – 2 Pin Way Waterproof Electrical Connector – 1.5mm Series Terminals – Water Resistant by Jessie Ritchie

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good weather resistant connectors for most DIY electrical and electronic applications

First the connectors are well made. The plastic molds for male/female connectors are strong, solid and free from the plastic glare found on less expensive connectors. Second, the weather resistant yellow plastic/rubber spacers are easy to install and well made. Overall the connectors have a good fit and finish, look and feel well made and no leaking elements as described. I'll see if I can post a follow up to this review or add a section detailing my experience with connectors over the next 6 months. I installed multiple connectors for tail light, side markers and brake lights in my Fiat X1/9 restoration project. While not directly exposed to the elements, I chose quality connectors to connect my car tail lights to my wiring harness as it will ease future repairs/removals/reinstalls. Assembling the connectors wasn't difficult, but I'd recommend watching a few videos on the process if you're unfamiliar with this type of connector. It may take a few minutes to strip the wires, crimp and/or solder the pins to the cable, but it's okay. This can be frustrating when aligning/orienting the assembled wire pins on the connector body, but if you take your time and make sure the alignment is correct they will usually slide in easily and snap into place. If the wire you are using is stranded thin or super flexible, you may need to use a pair of needle nose pliers to secure the pins in the connectors. If I could rate the connectors a 4.5 out of 5, I would. My only complaint is that some of the pins won't snap and have to use a different pin. This isn't a common problem, but I encountered it with one of the 10 connectors installed. It may have been user error, but I want to point that out. Connectors are good up to 18 AWG, but they vary depending on the wire type and thickness of material/insulation used. In general, the connectors are well made, easy to assemble and have strong mechanical and electrical contact.
