Review on CURT 18112 Black Aluminum Hitch Cargo Carrier with Ramp: 50 x 30-1/2-Inch, 2-in Folding Shank - Ultimate Versatility for Easy Travel by Khalil Hopp

This hitch mounted cargo carrier with ramp is so ideal! I ordered this to mount to my camper for easy loading and unloading of my generator. I'm very happy with this so far but I haven't used it on my camper yet, as I don't trust my hitch reciever to hold the weight. I'm fixing to take it in and have some gussets welded up for added strength before I mount it. I know it says it'll hold 500lbs but I'm worried about breaking my hitch so I'm just going to go the safe route and have it beefed up anyway. Out of the box this was super easy to put together if you follow the step by step instructions. You will need to have some unprovided tools to put it together though, those are a 17mm wrench, a 24mm wrench, hex key 6mm, adjustable wrench, 17mm socket, and a torque wrench. Other than that it comes with all the hardware. My did have some small dents and dings when I recieved it but nothing major, and nothing that through the powder coating. I like that it comes powder coated which I feel will make it last much longer without rusting. Another nice feature is the aluminum material is super lightweight so you can actually put cargo weight on it without worrying that it weighs too much. Also, makes it much easier for installation as it doesn't weigh so much. The hitch shank is foldable so you can flip it up and place the pin which is very cool! It fit right into the 2" reciever on my truck, and also has an anti-rattle hitch pin. The only downside to that is the anti-rattle pin takes more time to put in and remove as you have to snug it down with a wrench everytime. The carrier folds multiple ways flat, vertical, horizontal, and folded shank. The ramp also folds multiple ways and there is a keeper pin that locks it into place in these positions. The folding ramp is super long which makes it nice for loading heavy items without having to pull or push them with too much effort. The I-bolts double as tie-down points although you have to have the tie downs that don't have wide gauge hooks as the I-bolts aren't big enough for them. I also like that the backside has reflectors for safety. All in all, I highly recommend this and imagine I will have alot of people asking about it, as it's such a great cargo carrier in comparison to so many others!
