I upgraded from a cable company (Frontier) NVG468MQ router that is in my living room. I have an internet connection of 150 Mbit/s and even 5 meters away from the router the speed was average (30-60 Mbit/s). My WIRED devices even performed poorly, which was frustrating for me. I switched to the two piece Nest Wifi router and installed the first router in place of the old router. Speeds were greatly improved just before the mesh network was set up. I ran several speed tests with the old router in different parts of my ground floor and each location had faster and more consistent coverage. Speed on the wired PS4 (pictured above) has also improved drastically. I placed the second router on the second floor of the house in the study/bedroom. It's on the opposite side of the house and closer to the front, so it balances the locations. The mesh netting installs quickly with excellent strength. When testing devices around the house, entryway (Koltso), garage (workout on phone or computer), speeds were all around 120-150Mbps. That's a staggering amount compared to the 10-30Mbps I had before have seen. Additionally, the much simpler network (single SSID), management, and look and feel of the device make this an easy choice for your first mesh system. For the sake of simplicity, the Google Home app is enough for control, but I wanted to see more details, so I also installed the Google Wifi app. It's also very easy to use but offers very clear network status and features to manage or prioritize devices. Overall I am very satisfied and it is highly recommended.
