I am teaching my youngest of 3 to drive now and to her great displeasure and embarrassment I do not let her ride in a car without them. When I had to teach my oldest to drive, it was a whole year of stress and hell because all the aggressive drivers in Florida didn't know he was just a kid learning. I seriously considered buying a car PA system so I could yell at the other cars around us when they got behind us or interrupt him. Then a year later it was time to teach my middle child, luckily I found a similar style. Magnets to alert others that a learner driver is driving. And let me tell you, they made a HUGE difference! People kept their distance and were patient with her. I had a few years difference between my middle child and my youngest so I gave my other magnets to a friend. So even before my youngest got permission, I found them and ordered them. Yes, it confuses them, but without something to let other drivers know it's just a kid learning to drive, they don't know how to do better and act like total scumbags. I hate to admit it, but before that first year of teaching my senior, I must have been one of those assholes. The year he learned to drive, he taught me how terrible my driving habits had become and now completely changed my driving style.
