The snap ring wouldn't install because we couldn't clean the groove on the hub. It was important to just scrape off the dirt and rub the oil with a paper towel. Insert the ring almost inwards and while holding it, gently press the ring at the junction of the ends and tap the device with a suitable hammer. The ring clicked into place and appeared to be installed. Failure to guarantee installation will result in negative results.
