Review on Makita BO3710 Precision Finish Sander by Larry Daniels

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow! Very happy with this grinder. Works perfectly.

Need to replace my trusty old B&D random orbit sander that has died. There is no comparable replacement from B&D. I found this Makita at Revain and while the Makita has a reputation for quality I have become suspicious of almost every power tool available today as they all appear to be foreign made. But for $50 I can't hurt much. Also, this grinder is a 1/3 blade grinder and not the 1/4 blade grinder more common today. Well the sander arrived today and I immediately used it to sand some of the hardwood guitar necks I make. I sanded red oak and teak today. Holy cow! This Makita is so smooth-running, relatively quiet and easy to handle when working. I can't remember when my old grinder was this smooth. It's a finish sander (straight line), not an orbital, but the Makita easily smoothed out the wood I was working with, first 60 grit, then 150 grit. Did a great job of removing wood as needed, and like me above said it was easy to manage during use so no "sanding down" was required. I don't know how long this block will last, but ready to use it's a great tool. and I think a good value. Comes with a dust bag and a hole punch to make holes for sandpaper to use the dust collection function in the base of the grinder. I recommend this tool to anyone looking for a light to medium grinder.
