Review on Tripp Lite Portable Inverter PINV1000 by Shaun Helm

Revainrating 4 out of 5

super thick cable; Huge unit that works

I have used inverters before and love them but I have never used an inverter before that seems capable of powering the microwave in my car. try and don't). I use this with a newer car so I only use it when we're parked and with the hood open because the power cords are very thick/short. That's good because when you have 1000 watts of power you really need to have the right cables for it. It's nice to see that they have some wires thick enough to handle the current flowing through them. This works very well when camping and, if you have the patience, in a car when it's convenient for you to hide and route cables. It's a beast of a device and if we use it for camping/hanging out it can easily charge whatever we want and easily run a laptop and flat screen TV. Pros: Very well done; like a tank Contains a lot of stuff for the car Easy to use Doesn't bother connecting some everyday things (I wanted to try a portable air conditioner just in case, but the logistics don't work) The cables are thick enough (thin wires would be a bad idea ) Would be great for truck drivers. Cons: It requires more setup than just "plug and play" like 100 watt cables. Thick wires require much more creative wire hiding. Used while driving Overall, this is a great device for powering a lot more than just phone or laptop chargers. It's well made, appears to be built like a tank and should last a long time with proper care. It's definitely not as convenient as some lower-powered devices, but they can draw a lot more power than they do. It's really a question of what you want/need, not what you want to spend or how long it takes to install. I like to think I found a good compromise by plugging it in while parking. I was wondering if this would affect battery or alternator life. I'll have to update this if I find it adversely affecting him.
