Description of Tripp Lite Portable Inverter PINV1000

CONVERT DC POWER TO AC POWER: Converts 12V power from a car or truck battery into reliable and usable 120V AC power at 1,000 watts and peak power of 2,000 watts for mobile applications, such as phones and laptops. The included 3 ft. Red/black battery cables supply power directly from the battery- circumventing the limited power capability of a cigarette outlet. Great for cars, trucks, boats, RVs, or anywhere you need to convert DC power to AC. CHARGE A VARIETY OF ELECTRONICS: dual NEMA 5-15R outlets (standard AC outlets) deliver continuous output for powering electronics with greater power needs, such as laptops. 2 amp USB Charging port keeps devices such as smartphones and tablets at full capacity. PORTABLE & EASY TO USE: Ideal power inverter for trucks at remote locations such as construction site, where critical equipment and devices must remain operational without access to traditional AC power supplies. Great for areas without regular power outlets such as campsites, where car power inverters are necessary to power personal mobile devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets. PREMIUM SAFETY FEATURES: On/off feature offers control over both AC outlets, and an audible alarm sounds during excessively high or low voltage conditions. To protect connected electronics, Automoatic shutdown occurs if the output of car power outlets drops below 10V or rises above 16V. HIGH QUALITY WITH 2 YEAR WARRANTY: Reinforced aluminum Housing built to withstand rigors of travel and outdoor use. Car power adapters are handled frequently and in tight spaces, and this 12 volt power inverter is built with this in mind. Backed by free chicago-based tech Support and a 2 year warranty.

Almost AC on the road or during a blackout

I am using a compact 1000W Tripp Lite portable inverter with a 12V sealed lead acid battery that is charged with my home built solar panel system. And so far it's working very well. If you want to use this inverter in the same way, please remember that any inverter over 400W must be properly grounded. I put together a solar power system because last year we had power outages for more than a week after a severe storm hit our town and we relied on a couple of inverters that I own to provide the…

Pros
  • Excellent value for money
Cons
  • Functionality

This is a well made high efficiency modified sine wave inverter that can run 1000w continuously and when I tested it it ran 1500w for almost a minute before cutting out. The fan makes noise when turned on, so it's not the best choice if you're worried about noise. I have used Tripp Lite inverters for many years and have found them to be well made and reliable. This inverter comes with a 3 foot 12 volt battery cable which is very short which led me to give it four stars instead of five. You will

Another great Tripp Lite product

I've been using Tripp Lite products for over 30 years and they rarely disappoint. This product is no exception. The design and build quality of this inverter is absolutely top notch. It seems that there are absolutely no compromises, either inside or out. It uses only high quality electronic components and is carefully assembled on a very well designed circuit board. The exterior is also crafted in a rugged style, with a massive built-in heatsink to protect the device from overheating and keep…

Powerful, reliable, compact enough

This 1000w 12v inverter is the most powerful I have ever used. There is no 12V power connection here, it connects directly to the battery. It was really easy to set up and I firmly anchored it to the ground with the included anchor points on the unit to keep it from moving. The on/off switch is located near the outlets and is easy to find and can be turned on or off with a simple touch when needed. This unit is powerful enough to charge 2 laptops and also to power any modern 120v devices I plan

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Compatibility

Very handy for emergencies

This device is really powerful. I would say that the first thing I look at is the size of the inverter. This inverter is quite big and heavy. I would recommend this is best used on larger vehicles, not to mention you can't use this on a smaller vehicle, but it seems to work better with larger trucks or Hummers. Relatively easy to connect the battery. You must operate this device while the vehicle is running to avoid draining the battery. This can easily be used to start your devices during a…

super thick cable; Huge unit that works

I have used inverters before and love them but I have never used an inverter before that seems capable of powering the microwave in my car. try and don't). I use this with a newer car so I only use it when we're parked and with the hood open because the power cords are very thick/short. That's good because when you have 1000 watts of power you really need to have the right cables for it. It's nice to see that they have some wires thick enough to handle the current flowing through them. This…

Nice inverter for my weird use case. Recommended

A decent shed was built on my property so I could use the garage to store my cars. While I love the barn, there was no economical way to power it. I'm not afraid to mess around, so I have a very cheap 200w solar panel, charge controller, circuit breaker and compact 1000w portable inverter from Tripp Lite. I combined this with an older Group 26 car battery I had laying around. Basically, the photovoltaic panel charges the battery when the sun is shining and the inverter is powered by the…
