Review on Tripp Lite Portable Inverter PINV1000 by Bill Escobar

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very handy for emergencies

This device is really powerful. I would say that the first thing I look at is the size of the inverter. This inverter is quite big and heavy. I would recommend this is best used on larger vehicles, not to mention you can't use this on a smaller vehicle, but it seems to work better with larger trucks or Hummers. Relatively easy to connect the battery. You must operate this device while the vehicle is running to avoid draining the battery. This can easily be used to start your devices during a power outage if absolutely necessary. I installed it in my car and honestly didn't uninstall it as I can just turn the device on and off. I would recommend turning this off when not in use as it is very noisy. To be honest, if you use this in an emergency, you might as well plug it in when needed. It mounts directly to the battery and, again, should only run when the engine is running to avoid draining the battery. A small complaint I noticed with this is that the fuse inside seems a bit cheap. I'm actually afraid it's going to explode any day, which is a bit scary. I can ask my friend to replace it as he works with such electronics. The housing is made of metal. However, note that it generates heat during use. So keep it outdoors to avoid overheating and fuse blowout. This is ideal for your RV and for trips where you may need to power larger devices in the wild. This device comes with all the necessary parts (no tools) to connect it to the battery. The 1000W can support two devices and has a USB port to charge another. I was able to connect a device, but I didn't want to push it any further. Overall I think this unit is decent but a bit small which makes it warm and the fan runs a bit noisy.
